Will I be able to see northern lights when I visit? You have a chance! From October - March is the most likely time. Cross your fingers for a clear night and a good aurora forecast!
What in the world is a wet bath? A wet bath is a bathroom setup with a toilet in the shower enclosure. We designed it for space efficiency and hope you find it interesting and workable.
Will we have access to any common areas on the property? Yes! You're welcome to enjoy several shared outdoor spaces during your stay including the fire pit (on the side of the circle drive); the picnic tables and gas grill (in the center of the circle drive); and the shady lawn with a hammock and lawn chairs (in the wooded area behind houses #2 and #3).
Are any food essentials provided? Our tiny houses are stocked with the basics: olive oil, salt and pepper, a variety of teabags, and some delicious organic dark roast coffee.
How are winter roads to Arkose? Snow is cleared off Palmer-Fishhook Rd fairly quickly and the neighborhood roads are also plowed regularly. You'll be fine without 4WD.
Is EV charging available nearby? Yes! We offer one complimentary charge at a 50-amp outlet with a level 2 charging cord available (accommodates both Tesla and J1772).
What hikes do you recommend nearby? Here are some of our favorites, including the driving distance from Arkose Tiny Homes:
- Government Peak Recreational Area (3 miles drive): multiple trails open year around for hiking, biking and skiing.
- Gold Mint trail in Hatcher Pass (6 miles drive). The first mile or two of the trail are an easy, beautiful hike!
- Gold Cord Lake in Hatcher Pass (10.5 miles drive) is a fairly easy 1 mile hike beginning near Independence Mine to a gorgeous lake with fantastic views.
- April Bowl in Hatcher Pass (11 miles drive) - easy to moderate hike with some elevation gain and two beautiful lakes.
